BRIAN KONECHNY
Executive Vice President

Born and raised in Vancouver, British Columbia, Brian grew up playing the guitar and envisioning a career in the music business. Knowing how difficult the likelihood of success in the industry would be, he decided to study aircraft maintenance engineering, a field that he felt would appeal to his fascination with technology but was soon drawn back to his rock & roll dreams when he formed a band "Teaser" in the late 70's and went out on the road

Brian was passionate about the band, and especially the band's lighting rig. The group was often chosen as back up for bigger name acts likely, according to Brian, because of the great lighting system that came along, but after almost ten years of pubs, clubs, tours and recording studios, he decided it was time to move on and explore new opportunities. When word got out that his light show was collecting dust in a warehouse, bands started calling on a regular basis to rent his rig, and Showtime Lighting was born in 1985.

Being a self-described "gear junkie", Brian's equipment list grew as quickly as his client list, and Showtime was busy building new systems. Having found the career that encompassed all of his interests, Brian fully devoted himself to the growth of the company, fondly remembering the early days making cabling on the living room floor with his wife Linda, and weighing every personal purchase by the ever present question: "how many lights could I buy for that?".

As it grew, Showtime earned and maintained a prominent regional position in the corporate and event industry through a shared commitment by both management and staff to achieve a high level of technical excellence, value and customer satisfaction. Clients included IBM, BMW, IKEA, Amway International, Mitsubishi, Johnson & Johnson and General Motors. Brian credits the company's success to the talented individuals who became an incredibly cohesive and dedicated team, many of whom are still working with him today.

The 2002 partnership formation with Marc Raymond and Phil Bernard, and the subsequent rebranding of the company under the Q1 Banner has given Brian the opportunity to bring his unique approach to the corporate and event industry to an even wider client base as well as further his involvement in the theatre and concert side of the business. In addition to his partnership role as President of the company, Brian served as General Manager of the Vancouver operation where he was instrumental in establishing and growing the company's Sales and Integration division.

At Epic Brian's role is to provide strategic vision and guidance to the Sales & Integration team and to expand upon the successes achieved at Q1.

After nearly twenty years in the business, Brian truly enjoys what he does more than ever. He remains fascinated by developments in the technology, and loves the challenge of being involved with a world class company and the growth of the industry. Though he doesn't get to play the guitar much any more, he recently put together a band to play for industry parties and events, and while he doesn't promise his audience any musical breakthroughs, he guarantees the light show will always be great!
