Epic Opens New Facility
Epic's Vancouver warehouse was transformed for the weekend
Epic Production Technologies proudly opened its new Vancouver facility to several hundred invited guests February 6th and 7th with an eclectic mix of friends, clients, suppliers and assorted industry veterans touring the 17,000 sq. ft. office/warehouse complex located just steps away from the company's previous Vancouver location.
Epic Executive VP Brian Konechny makes opening remarks
The two day event, co-hosted by Vari-Lite, featured renowned guest speakers Lighting Designer Peter Morse (Barbra Streisand, Christina Aguilera, Prince, Bette Midler, Usher) and Lighting Designer/Consultant Adrian Goldberg (CTV, TSN HD, MTV Canada, So You Think You Can Dance Canada) talking about their careers, their upcoming projects and their views on the industry in general. Throughout the weekend there were demonstrations of Vari-Lite's revolutionary VLX LED Prototype Luminaire along with the entire VL product line including the new VL3500 Wash FX. The event also featured exciting new product demonstrations from Strand Lighting, Barco and Color Kinetics.

According to Epic's Vancouver-based Executive Vice President Brian Konechny, the Vancouver operation had been bursting at the seams at the previous location so everyone was extremely excited about the move. "No matter how much we plan for growth and expansion, it seems we use up space faster than we can foresee. With recent growth and the 2008 merger of Q1 and Ed & Ted's that formed Epic, the need for a much larger space was long overdue". The Vancouver office is home base for Epic's international sales, projects and integration activity as well as serving the regional corporate, event, film and concert markets.

Konechny was thrilled by the success of the weekend opening event, and admitted to being quite overwhelmed by the turnout and response of clients and colleagues. "It was a great opportunity to not only show off the new offices but to display our comprehensive inventory of LED & automated fixtures as well as some great new products in the marketplace". He added that much of the credit for the event's success was due to suppliers pulling out all the stops in their participation and support. "I still don't know how George Masek smuggled the VLX LED prototype out of Vari-Lite but we're all glad he did" said Konechny, adding that "all in all, everyone had a great time and I really think people learned a lot more about Epic".
